Balloonists were going to make the longest nonstop flight in a thermal balloon. Especially for this in Russia, stitched together a huge balloon-the volume of its shell is 10 thousand cubic meters.

The world record was broken when travelers passed over the Saratov region, about 150 kilometers from the border with Kazakhstan. By the time they are in the sky 51 hours 9 minutes. The previous world record was 50 hours 38 minutes and was established in 1997 by Japanese pilots Michio Kanda and Hirazuki Takezava.

Beginning of a record flight turned into a funny thing. It turned out that immediately after start Konyukhov accidentally dropped an empty gas tank at the training centre of the administration of the FSB in Rybinsk, “Komsomolskaya Pravda” reported.

Road train, who rides for the traveler and selects the used cylinders had to negotiate with the Yaroslavl Office of the FSB. In doing so, it took the intervention of the head of Rybinsk Denis Dobryakov. “Well, you do not need to write about it. Yaroslavl Office help. They reacted quickly to the situation, and the balloon project participants gave”, – said the city head.

During the flight the balloon was going at a height of 190 to 300 meters, speed, depending on the wind, ranged from 10 to 40 kilometres per hour. The most difficult section of the path was the second night, indicated on the official site of Konyukhov. There was ice shell of the ball – it affected his weight and thus increased fuel consumption. However, the goal has been reached.
