The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called the “shameful” decision of the European Court authorizing employers to ban religious clothes and symbols, including hijabs, in the workplace. In his opinion, this is a hidden war, declared by religions.
According to a decision of the European court published on Tuesday, employers can impose a ban in the event that there is an “internal rule of the company that prohibits the apparent wearing of any philosophical or religious symbol.” In this case, the ban, as the court ruled, “is not direct discrimination.”
“A few days ago, the European Court of Justice adopted a shameful resolution allowing employers to prohibit employees from wearing hijabs and other clothing indicating a person’s belonging to a particular religion. In fact, it is a hidden war declared by religions, in their view, the restriction of religious freedoms gradually Will lead to the refusal of young people to practice religion, I am sure that the Muslims of Europe will say decisive “No!” To attempts to impose a complete ban on their religious rights! ” – wrote Kadyrov on his page in Instagram.
The head of Chechnya expressed confidence that representatives of other religions will demonstrate the same attitude towards the decision of the European Court.
“Remember that in Nazi Germany genocide was staged on a national basis, if you remain silent, there are no guarantees that this will not happen again on religious grounds,” he concluded.
