The leader of the Russian hockey team and captain of the NHL “Washington Capitals” Alexander Ovechkin said that he will participate in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, despite the decision of the league about the non-participation of its players in competitions.

His team-mate Yevgeny Kuznetsov does not lose hope that the NHL will allow players to go to the Games. In case the league refuses, according to the forward, the athlete will still go to South Korea.
“It’s in my heart,” Kuznetsov said.
Previously, the NHL issued a statement in which it was said that athletes will not participate in the Winter Olympics in South Korea. The organization also instructed the teams not to discuss with athletes the possibility of individual admission to the Games.
