Work on the construction of the bridge across the Kerch Strait are continuing in difficult weather conditions, during the icing and ice drift in the strait, said Thursday the Information Centre “Crimean bridge.”
In the Kerch Strait for a few days I got ice from the Sea of Azov. The thickness of the ice cover was about 10 centimeters, but it did not affect the work of the builders of the bridge across the Kerch Strait, said the information center.
“The possibility of icing Strait during construction considered in the construction project, and ice loads are designed not only for the bridge supports, but also for all temporary structures – bridges of workers and technological platforms”, – the press-service.
Delivery pile to technological bridges was carried out using a barge-tug combination. When recently in the Strait of established zero temperature, the ice began to break down, and moved from the Sea of Azov to the Black Sea.
“Break-up does not affect the operation of the bridge builders”, – added the press service.
This week, the builders started on the second phase of the Kerch site assembly arch bridge – namely arches 45 meters high. Arched spans for 227 meters in length, weighing nearly 6000 tons of railway and more than 4 thousand tons of road are planned to be installed by using a pontoon floating system, which is now made on the SMZ in Sevastopol.
The bridge across the Kerch Strait, which connects the Crimea and the Krasnodar region will be the longest in Russia – its length is 19 kilometers. The total cost of the project, which is financed by the state budget amounts to 227.92 billion rubles. Start the movement of vehicles on the bridge is scheduled for December 2018, trains – by December 2019.
