The film “Beauty and the Beast” became the leader of the Russian rental, having collected over the weekend more than 377 million rubles ($6 566 209), the portal kinobusiness.com reports on Monday.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov (United Russia) appealed to the head of the Ministry of Culture Vladimir Medinsky with a request to conduct a pre-test of the American film Bill Condon’s “Beauty and the Beast” on propaganda of homosexuality. The Ministry of Culture did not find propaganda in the film on the results of the examination, but at the same time they awarded him a rating of 16+.
In the film, which represents the reproduction of the 1991 cartoon, starred Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luc Evans, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKelen, Emma Thompson.
